Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday (October 14) took to Twitter to reveal that she has started losing the 20 kgs that she gained to play former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in her biopic, Thalaivi. She shared a photo of herself perfecting a yoga asana and flaunting her flat abs. She also wrote that she needs to go back to her earlier size as the film is nearing completion.
Kangana Ranaut’s Thalaivi will trace the life of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. Before beginning the film’s shoot, she gained a massive 20 kgs to fit the role. Since Thalaivi is nearing completion, she is all set to go back to her old self.
Sharing the photo, Kangana Ranaut wrote, “I had gained 20kgs for Thalaivi, now that we are very close to completing it, need to go back to my earlier size, agility, metabolism and flexibility. Waking up early and going for a jog/walk …. who all are with me? (sic).”

On October 1, the shooting of Thalaivi resumed in Chennai. Kangana shared some morning selfies and got back to work after seven months. In her tweet, she called it a very special day.
The team recently wrapped up the Chennai schedule in just 10 days. Thalaivi’s shooting is expected to be wrapped up by the end of this year. Produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shaailesh R Singh, Thalaivi will release sometime next year.
Thalaivi also features Arvind Swami as legendary actor-politician MG Ramachandran aka MGR. The film, which will be made in two parts, will release in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
