In a clash that has most probably ended up giving us a little more clarity over which four teams are likely to make it to the playoff stages of IPL 2020, Kolkata Knight Riders ended up beating Sunrisers Hyderabad in a Super Over.
This was the third Super Over in IPL 2020, the most in any one season of the tournament so far.
The game was an absolute roller-coaster until the game ended in a tie, and KKR found a new hero in the form of Lockie Ferguson.
But apart from the high-level of cricket that was at display at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium at Abu Dhabi, what took the spectator’s fancy was the unique hairstyle of the on-field umpire Paschim Pathak.
As soon as Pathak stepped on the field for the game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad, social media noticed the unique hairstyle of the umpire and he soon started trending on the social networking sites. Twitter was flooded with memes involving Paschim Pathak for his extraordinary hairstyle, where many referred to him as the ‘Rockstar’ umpire.
Although this was the first time that Pathak was seen in IPL 2020, the umpire however has been around for a while.
He made his IPL debut way back in 2014. The official has the distinction of managing to be in the limelight due to his unique habits.
He is also famously known as the first Indian umpire to wear a helmet while umpiring in a match. He had done this in one of the matches of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2015 conducted in Karnataka.
