In an unprovoked incident of ceasefire violation along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan resorted to firing artillery guns, mortars and other heavy weapons on Thursday. The violation occurred in Keran and Machhal sectors of Kupwara district on Thursday afternoon.

The Indian Army is engaged in giving a befitting reply to the firing and crossfire is on.

Earlier today, a statement issued by the Indian Army confirmed that two soldiers were killed while four others received injuries after Pakistan initiated an unprovoked ceasefire violation along the LoC in Naugam sector in Kupwara on Thursday morning.

Reports suggest that efforts are being made to push in more men from across the LoC through several launch pad as the winter months approach.

“Every year, Pakistan tries to send across terrorists before the snowfall, and it’s happening this year too. We have reports of infiltration from Gurez and Bandipora sectors. The Army had also established contact at these places, and we have managed to recover huge arms and ammunition from areas close to the border. There were attempts in Baramulla and Handwara too. Our border security grid is strong. We have managed to foil all the attempts in bordering areas,” said Dilbagh Singh, DG, Jammu and Kashmir Police.
